# Template Message Block

The **Template Message Block** inside **Send Message** allows you to send **official WhatsApp API-approved template messages** to users. These templates are pre-approved by WhatsApp and are commonly used when the **24-hour customer service window is not active**.

This block is useful for sending messages such as **OTP notifications, payment reminders, order updates, and other important alerts**.

#### How to Use the Template Message Block

1. Open your **Chat Flow** in the bot builder.
2. Add a **Trigger or Keyword**.
3. Click **Add Node**.
4. Select **Send Message → Template Message**.

#### Select Template

5. Choose a **pre-approved WhatsApp template** from the list.
6. If the template does not appear, click **Load Templates** to refresh the list.

#### Map Template Variables

7. Map the required **template variables** using **Super Fields or available variables** (for example, customer name).
8. Click **Save Message**.

Once the flow is triggered, the selected template message will be sent to the user.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://helpdocumentation.gitbook.io/user/bot-builder/whatsapp-chatbot/message-blocks/template-message-block.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
