# Create and Manage Articles in Web Chat

Articles allow you to provide useful information directly through the Web Chat widget. You can use them to create **FAQs, help guides, and answers to commonly asked questions**, allowing users to find information without starting a conversation with your team.

For example, you can create an article explaining **How to Reset Your Password**.

### Step 1: Open Articles

1. Go to **Web Chat** from the left-hand menu.
2. Open the **Articles** section.
3. Click **New Article**.

### Step 2: Add Article Details

Enter the following information:

Title Enter the title of the article.\
**Example:** `How to Reset Your Password`

Description Add a short one-line description explaining what the article is about.

Content:Add the complete information or instructions that you want users to read.

### Step 3: Configure Article Visibility

You can control whether the article is available to users.

* **Enabled:** The article can be displayed to users.
* **Disabled:** The article remains available in the panel but is hidden from users.

### Step 4: Feature an Article

You can **feature** an article if you want it to receive more visibility within the chat widget.

This is useful for important or frequently accessed articles.

### Step 5: Set Article Order

The **Order** option controls the sequence in which articles are displayed.

You can assign an order value to arrange articles from **lowest to highest** according to your preferred sequence.

### Step 6: Create the Article

1. Review the article details.
2. Click **Create Article**.
3. The article will be created as a **Draft**.

### Step 7: Publish the Article

1. Open the created draft article.
2. Click **Publish Article**.
3. Once published, the article will become available to users through the Web Chat widget.

If you do not want to publish an article, you can keep it disabled and enable it later when required.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://helpdocumentation.gitbook.io/user-documentation/web-chat-widget/create-and-manage-articles-in-web-chat.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
