# Tax Configuration

The **Tax** section allows you to create and manage tax rules for your ecom store. You can define taxes based on **country, state, postal code, and city**, and apply the configured tax while creating or editing products.

### 1. View Tax Configurations

1. Go to **Ecom Store → Tax**.
2. View all existing tax configurations.
3. Check details such as:
   * Tax Name
   * Sub-tax
   * Available Actions
4. Use the **Search** option to find a specific tax configuration.
5. To disable taxation for the store, turn off the **Taxation** option.

### 2. Create a Tax Configuration

1. Click **Add Tax**.
2. Enter the **Tax Tag**.
   * Use a clear name to identify the tax configuration.
   * Example: `GST12`
3. Under **Tax Rate**, configure the applicable location:
   * **Country Code**
   * **State Code**
   * **Postcode/ZIP**
   * **City**
4. Enter the **Tax Rate**.
   * Example: `12%`
5. Enter the **Tax Name**.
   * Example: `CGST` or `SGST`
6. Set the **Priority**.
   * A lower priority number can be used for rules that should be considered first.
7. To add another tax rule, click **Insert Row** and configure the required details.
8. Click **Save**.

#### Example

You can create separate tax rules for different locations, such as:

* Gujarat → 12% GST
* Maharashtra → 12% GST

### 3. Import Tax Rates Using CSV

For multiple tax rules, you can import them using a CSV file.

1. Click **Import**.
2. Select the CSV file.
3. The tax details will be loaded automatically.
4. Verify or edit the imported values.
5. Save the configuration.

The CSV can contain fields such as:

* Country Code
* State Code
* Postcode
* City
* Rate
* Tax Name
* Priority

### 4. Export Tax Rates

You can export your existing tax configurations as a CSV file.

1. Click **Export**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://helpdocumentation.gitbook.io/user-documentation/ai-store/tax-configuration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
